RECIPIENTS | Homeless men, who suffer from disease, who have been released from prison or who are in prison, taken in by Obra Social Santa Lluïsa de Marillac (Barcelona). Given their circumstances, these recipients live in situations of social exclusion and they have difficulties in addressing their basic needs — with few options to participate fully in economic, social or civil life.
METHODOLOGY | Weekly group and individual art therapy sessions. Participants are able to choose between various artistic mediums in order to create and develop their own means of artistic expression, in the company of the art therapist that guides the sessions.
OBJECTIVES | To make use of the creative process in order to boost personal growth and reconciliation of every participant, tackling the need to create and stabilize ties with their surroundings; reforming and improving self esteem and self worth, or of their subjective world, through the use of a metaphorical one, using art as an instrument of communication and expression; and learning to transform “errors“ made in the creative process into opportunities.
